About the Canolfan
Ynglŷn â’r Ganolfan

In 2013, Anglesey County Council announced that considering the “necessity” of economic cutbacks the Canolfan (a recently purpose built facility) would no longer be supported and managed. I’m pleased to say that a group of staff, volunteers and business people stepped forward to save the Centre for Beaumaris.

A not for profit Social Enterprise Business was established and charitable status gained for the project. It’s not been easy, but the support of the local community and the hard work of the volunteer and management teams has succeeded and continues to develop the centre as an amenity for the local community and the many seasonal visitors to our town. An important part of this is to maintain the increase to the GP referral system for rehabilitation sessions for our residents who have appreciated this service to their wellbeing.

The Beaumaris Festival, our events, film nights and concerts have proved popular, as have our leisure and sports programmes and an increasing number of people benefit from our gym facilities and classes. A special word of thanks to the terrific people who organise the Beaumaris Food Festival, as the support for the Canolfan has been invaluable.

We have of course to raise additional monies to create sustainable and financial viability to provide these services and to continue to develop the Canolfan as a working Leisure Centre for all to share here in Beaumaris, so if you’re a visitor or resident come along; it costs very little to take advantage of what we offer at the Canolfan.”

Yn ystod 2013, penderfynodd Cyngor Sir Ynys Môn na allent barhau i gynnal a rheoli’r Ganolfan hon, a godwyd yn weddol ddiweddar, oherwydd yr angen iddynt dorri costau.

Mae’n dda iawn gen i ddweud fod grŵp o aelodau’r staff, gwirfoddolwyr a phobl fusnes wedi camu i’r adwy er mwyn arbed y Ganolfan ar gyfer Biwmares. Sefydlwyd Menter a Busnes Cymdeithasol (nid er elw) a llwyddwyd i gael statws elusen ar gyfer y prosiect.

Ni fu’n gyfnod hawdd, ond drwy gefnogaeth y gymuned leol a gwaith caled timau o wirfoddolwyr a rheolwyr, llwyddwyd i gyrraedd y nod a pharhau i ddatblygu’r ganolfan fel adnodd i’r gymuned, a’r ymwelwyr tymhorol sy’n tyrru i’r dref.

Rhan bwysig o’r gwasanaeth sy’n cael ei gynnig ydy cyrsiau adfer ar gais y meddygon teulu i’n trigolion, sy’n werthfawrogol iawn o’r cyfle i wella eu hiechyd a’u lles, a byddwn yn hybu mwy o ddefnydd ohono. Mae Gŵyl Biwmares, a’r digwyddiadau eraill – nosweithiau ffilm a chyngherddau – yn hynod boblogaidd, heb sôn am raglenni chwaraeon a hamdden. Mae’r nifer o bobl sy’n cael budd o adnoddau’r gampfa a’r dosbarthiadau yn cynyddu’n gyson. Hoffwn ddweud gair o ddiolch arbennig i’r tîm o bobl wych sy’n trefnu Gŵyl Fwyd Biwmares, gan fod cefnogaeth yr wŷl i’r Ganolfan wedi bod yn amhrisiadwy.

Wrth gwrs, mae’n rhaid i ni godi mwy o arian er mwyn creu dyfodol cynaliadwy a ffyniannus fel y medrwn barhau i gynnig y gwasanaethau hyn, a pharhau hefyd i ddatblygu’r Ganolfan fel canolfan hamdden i bawb ei rhannu yma ym Miwmares. Felly, os ydych chi’n ymwelydd neu’n breswylydd, dewch draw – mae’r gost yn rhesymol i gymryd mantais o’r gwasanaethau sydd ar gael yma yn y Ganolfan.”
