About The Canolfan
In 2013, Anglesey County Council announced that, considering the “necessity” for economic cutbacks, the Canolfan (a recently purpose built facility) would no longer be supported and managed. We are pleased to say that a group of staff, volunteers and business people stepped forward to save the Centre for the Seiriol area.
A not for profit Social Enterprise Business was established and charitable status gained for the project. It’s not been easy, but the support of the local community and the hard work of the volunteer and management teams has succeeded and continues to develop the centre as an amenity for the local communities and the many visitors to the Seiriol area. An important part of this is to maintain the increase to the GP referral system for rehabilitation sessions for our residents who have appreciated this service to their wellbeing.
The Beaumaris Festival, our events, film nights and concerts have proved popular, as have our leisure and sports programmes and an increasing number of people benefit from our gym facilities and classes. A special word of thanks to the terrific people who organise the Beaumaris Food Festival, as their support for the Canolfan has been invaluable.
We have of course to raise additional monies to create sustainable and financial viability to provide these services and to continue to develop the Canolfan as a working Leisure Centre for all to share here in Beaumaris, so, if you’re a visitor or resident in the Seiriol area and beyond, come along; it costs very little to take advantage of what we offer at the Canolfan.”
