Looking back at 2024

2024 was an excellent year for the Canolfan, and we would like to say thank you to our regular users and occasional visitors for their support, and for dropping in and making it a vibrant and welcoming place for everyone.

Some of the highlights from the past year include:

The expansion of our Holistic Wellness experience.

'Holistic wellness' was a fitness industry trend during 2024, and there is still a growing demand for a ‘full service’ fitness experience. Which is to say that people are seeking services that do not just focus on physical fitness, but also mental, emotional and social well-being. Here at the Canolfan we are proud of our wellness practitioners. In 2024 we welcomed Claire Hay leading our menopause café, Lara Watson a pelvic health physio and hypopressive instructor, Arron Tregenza with Sport massage and Denry Aal physio to compliment our already well established practitioners offering Mindfulness, Acupuncture, Osteopathy, Reiki and other holistic therapies. Visit the Seiriol Wellness Centre to find out more.

Community-Centric Engagement

Building a strong sense of community through events, social challenges, and group activities that foster connections among members has always been at the very heart of our ethos at Canolfan Beaumaris.

2024 saw us host a huge variety of events and activities. A notable success was our Dog Show, which was well attended by a good number of furry competitors, with their owners along for support. The event was sponsored by Bears and Co pet shop, in Beaumaris, who provided some fantastic prizes for the winners. This, along with the improved line-up of activities during the day, helped to make the event really special. This is going to be an annual event, so look out for the next one.

2024 saw the addition of some brand new events in our line-up, namely our Quiz Nights (once per month on a Friday night) and our Open Mic Nights (once per month on a Saturday night). These events are becoming increasingly popular and are an excellent way to spend an evening, with good company, enjoying a few drinks from our bar. Who doesn't love a 'pub' quiz? And our open mic nights showcase some amazing talent from the local area in the fields of music, poetry, magic tricks... anything goes!

We've held some amazing theatre events during the year, which have attracted visitors from far and wide. For example, our ever popular Beaumaris Band Concerts (The unfortunate cancellation of one night of the Christmas concert due to the bad weather notwithstanding), which are always an enormously enjoyable night of musical entertainment. And the Bonfire Night extravaganza featuring the glamourous and hilarious artiste 'Maggi Noggi', who we hope will be paying us a return visit in the near future. Or the extremely prestigious Beaumaris Festival, held throughout the town during May every year which sees the Canolfan play host to distinguished singers, musicians and performers from all over the world.

Our sports sessions and classes continue to go from strength to strength. 2024 saw us welcome two new instructors to our fitness team. Namely Arron Tregenza and Andrea Cross. Arron began leading spinning (indoor cycling) classes earlier in the year, and also is on hand in our brand new fitness suite to provide expert advice and assistance as a qualified Personal Trainer. Andrea, who joined us last January, leads two classes every Monday evening, a heart-pumping, high-energy Circuits class in our Main Hall, immediately followed by the most wonderful, relaxing Yogalates (a fusion of Yoga and Pilates) class in our cosy Gallery room. Both instructors are experienced and amiable additions to the team, and we are pleased to have them aboard.

And, finally, we mustn't forget to mention Pickleball. This unique and fascinating sport has seen an upsurge in popularity at The Canolfan over the past year, which has led to us providing a variety of new sessions covering all levels and abilities from beginners to more advanced players, and social sessions too.

There is always something exciting going on at the Canolfan, with plenty more to look forward to.

So why not this year take part in one of our many community events?

We look forward to welcoming you.
